Our youth programs are designed to enrich the lives of local children whose families are facing difficult times. We serve children whose families can’t afford to give them what many other children have, summer camp experiences, lunches in the summer months, new back packs with school supplies and gifts during the holidays.

Summer Camp Program
CAC makes the dream of attending summer camp come true for many children. Our camp placement program matches the interests of youngsters to summer camps for a life-enriching summer experience. CAC partners with private camps, schools and the city of Sandy Springs Parks & Recreation Department to provide camp opportunities to children who, because of economic need, would otherwise not be able to attend. We send about 100 children to summer camps each year. Camps range from local day camps to overnight camps several hours away. Opportunities include arts, sports, nature and academic enrichment camps or summer school at minimal cost to the family. CAC secures partial and full scholarships from area camps and raises the funds for the balance of the fee. This program runs from April through June.
Summer Lunch Box
Summers are particularly stressful for families that are already struggling to make ends meet. Often these families receive free or reduced school lunches to help feed their children during the school year. The Summer Lunch Box program helps these families off-set summer grocery costs by providing children with lunch for a week. We rely on food drives to collect food for summer lunches. This program also makes for great group projects, to collect the food and assemble it into bags containing 5 lunches each. This program runs from April through July.
School Supply Drive
The school supply program provides new back packs filled with school supplies to children whose families can’t afford the purchase these required tools for school. We give out about 500 back packs with supplies each summer for the start of the new school year. Excess supplies are then offered to teachers to use in their classrooms through the Teacher’s Closet program. We rely on school supply drives and donations from the community to provide for children and teachers. This is also another popular group drive project. Donate general supplies or pack backpacks for specific children, schools or grades. For details contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Supplies are limited to availability and the number of economically disadvantaged students in each classroom. All school supplies are donated. Classroom Supplies Request Form.
Adopt-a-Family
The Adopt-a-Family program allows donors to anonymously “adopt” families off our website and give holiday gifts to children based on their wish lists. The 2011 Adopt-a-Family holiday program at CAC was a great success. All of our 800 children from 350 local families were adopted through the annual program. More than 500 individual donors participated in adopting children. This program runs from October through December.
