With over 400 volunteers a month, the Community Assistance Center’s programs are brought to reality by the time contributions of community members. From financial assistance interviewers, to shelf stockers at our three mini-market food pantries, our volunteers directly impact those in need, immediately and significantly, every day. Volunteers at CAC contribute over $1,000,000 worth of labor every year, allowing CAC to focus its financial efforts in helping over 6,900 individuals a year.
CAC recognized the contributions of these important individuals at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, held at Temple Sinai on Friday, April 14. Hundreds of volunteers were recognized by department, with significant milestones celebrated with awards. CAC’s CEO, Francis K. Horton III, recognized volunteers that assist in our thrift store, mini-markets, financial assistance offices, career center, adult education classrooms, and in our seasonal programs for youth and tax preparation.
Beppie Lever, an amazing volunteer and friend to CAC, was awarded the prestigious Mitzi O’ Connell Care & Compassion Award. This award recognizes a volunteer that not only goes above and beyond in contributing to CAC’s mission, but also someone that exemplifies the personal empathy and geniality that helps CAC connect to our neighbors in need with trust and understanding. This is the second year that the Mitzi Award has been presented.
The CAC Board and staff wish to extend their sincerest gratitude to all the individuals that selflessly serve their community at CAC. Together, we make a true difference in the health and happiness of our neighbors every day.
