Youth & Family Programs

Your contributions are essential to helping children in our community

CAC youth programs benefit local children of families who are facing difficult times. With donor support, CAC serves children whose families can’t afford what many other children have. The gifts of seasonal items mean a lot more to the children than the value of the items. They help ensure children of families in need do not go hungry in the summer, are proud to go back to school with a new backpack and experience the joy of holiday gifts.

SUMMER LUNCHES

While school is out for the summer, CAC provides school-aged children with five easy-to-prepare meals each week.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

We provide school-aged children with age-appropriate school supplies and a brand-new backpack for the new school year.

COATS FOR KIDS

In partnership with the Knights of Columbus, CAC provides new coats for hundreds of children each autumn.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY

At the end of each year, CAC matches families in need with donors to provide gifts for every registered child.

With support from donors like you, CAC is able to:

Prepare up to 1,000 backpacks with school supplies to students each year.

Give holiday gifts to more than 1,500 children each year.

Provide more than 500 children each year with new winter coats.

Distribute more than 3,000 summer lunch bags (15,000 lunches) each year.

Summer Lunches Program

Help make sure local kids don’t go hungry this summer.  Your donation of $35 provides a child with 3 CAC Summer Lunch Bags, each containing 5 easy –to-prepare lunches for a week! Summer Lunch Bags benefit children in need who receive free lunches when at school.  CAC Summer Lunch Bags for kids help families who have difficulty meeting the additional costs of food for children during summer school vacation. The CAC Summer Lunch Bag program makes for great group projects; hold a food drive and assemble lunch bags containing 5 lunches from the lunch bag food list.

CAC accepts donations for this program from April through July.

Tools for School

Give kids Tools for School and help prepare them for the start of school with the tools they need to learn! Donate online to Tools for School and your dollar goes further to help more children. Your donation of $40 provides for a new backpack filled with school supplies, a $50 retail value, because when you donate to CAC your dollar buys more with wholesale purchasing! CAC’s Tools for School is unique, providing new backpacks filled with school supplies customized per school and per grade, all free to children of families in need. Your donations help about 1,000 students a year at 12 area public schools. CAC’s annual Tools for School drive takes place every spring and summer. Your support helps local children be proud to go to school and prepared to learn for the new academic year! CAC also accepts donations of school supplies and backpacks. Most needed items are large sized, heavy-duty backpacks.

We are starting to collect donations for this year’s Tools for School Program! Please arrange for dropoff of physical donations to our headquarters (1130 Hightower Trail, Sandy Springs, GA 30338) by emailing schoolsupplies@ourcac.org. Thank you for your help in making sure that students in our community have the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed in school!

Coats for Kids

The CAC Coats for Kids program provides free, new jackets to local children ages 0-18 in time for winter, thanks to our partnership with the Knights of Columbus from St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Recently, thanks to generous donors, we’ve been able to include children ages 0-4 in the program. CAC has also started to provide other winter accessories, such as hats, gloves, and scarves, in order to keep our community’s children warm during the colder months. CAC coordinates registration and distribution of hundreds of coats each October; in 2021, we distributed over 430 coats, and will distribute 560 coats in 2022.

Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays!

You can make a child’s holiday season a little happier! Give holiday gifts to children of local families in need through CAC. We’ve created a portal to help pair families in need with neighbors who can provide help. You’ll be able to view families and their stories, and select a family to ‘adopt’ for the holidays. Donors are asked to spend $75-$100 per child and bring their new and unwrapped gifts to CAC. The program serves about 1,500 local children each year.
